Cinderella

I wrote this story awhile ago...

CINDERELLA

There once was a girl. She lived a fine life with her mother and father. But when she was three years old, her mother died. She was left to grow up with her father. The young girl, Ella, was extremely beautiful. Not only that, she was also very kind hearted. And her father loved her.
But one day, when Ella was ten years old, her father decided she needed a mother. So a month later he married. The woman was young and pretty. But she had two very mean and ugly daughters. The woman was always kind to Ella- that is, when her father was around. But in actuality, she was extremely cruel.
On a late afternoon in July, Ella went on a boating trip with her father. Her stepmother and stepsisters refused to go. Ella and her father twisted down a rapid river. The water gleamed purple and blue. It was also spotted with flecks of green. It was very lovely indeed. But they turned a sharp curve and smashed right into a large boulder. The canoe capsized. Ella's father got thrown from the canoe. He was carried with the flow of the river far and fast. He swam as fast and hard as her could. Ella, who also got pushed into the water, caught hold of the canoe before the river would take her away. She screamed for her father as big, round tears came rolling down her cheeks. But her father was never seen nor heard of again.
This left a big problem for Ella. Now that her father was gone, she was in the hands of the wicked stepmother. Immediately, Ella was moved o the attic. She had to sleep on a lumpy mattress made of straw. Ella was also treated like a slave. She dusted the furniture, washed the dishes and too many other chores that left her weak and tired. But her stepmother loved giving her the task of cleaning the chimney. Ella would get soot all over her from the cinders in the fireplace. So her stepsisters started calling her Cinderella and the name stuck.
Her stepmother had always been jealous of how Cinderella was more pretty, graceful, and nice than her own two daughters. Oh, this angered her more then anything. So she gave Cinderella the endless tasks. It gave Stepmother pleasure to see Cinderella being a lower class than her daughters. One bright morning, Cinderella was sweeping the floor when she heard a knock on the door. How very strange, thought Cinderella, Hardly anyone comes to this house since father's death. But all the same, she went and answered the door. It was a royal footman from the castle!
"Here is a letter from the prince", the footman said.
"Thank you sir!", Cinderella kindly replied. She took the latter and closed the door. Her stepsisters crowded around her.
"What is it? What is it?", her stepsisters shrieked.
"Girls! Manners, manners! Do move away", Stepmother said calmly. She grabbed the letter out of Cinderella's hand. "Oh my! Girls, I think I have found you a husband! Yes a husband indeed."
"Who could it be?" the stepsisters wondered aloud.
"The prince of course!" Stepmother said. "He is holding a royal ball in order to find the perfect bride".
"May I go?" Cinderella asked.
"Well Cinderella, have you weeded the garden? Have you cooked the bread? Have you washed the clothes? Have you done everything that needs to be done around here and more? If you have done all of those chores, then you may go." Stepmother said coolly.
Cinderella looked down at her feet. A hot tear ran down to the tip of her nose. She shook her head, no. The tear rolled of her nose and left a splattered mark on the floor.
"Oh, and Cinderella- you missed a spot!" Stepmother said motioning to the spot on the floor.
For the next week, Cinderella spent all her time getting dresses for her stepsisters, then putting them back and getting new ones. She put up their hair in fancy new ways, and smothered makeup onto their faces. But all dressed, they still did not look half as beautiful as Cinderella in her rags.
Finally he night came. I was the night of the ball. The stepsisters rushed around. Just to make sure Cinderella wasn't going anywhere, Stepmother locked her in the cellar with the mice, frogs, snakes and the cat. Cinderella sat on the steps and wept her heart out. The mice tried to sooth her. Then, all of a sudden a light appeared in the corner.
"Oh bother! This troublesome want. Good for nothing- oh yes! Here we go. Hello there!" Cinderella heard somebody say. As the person moved closer to Cinderella, she moved back. "Hello! No need to be frightened, girl. I am your fairy god mother. Come to me Let me see you!" the Godmother exclaimed. Cinderella crept forward. " What is wrong?" Godmother asked her.
"Oh I want to go to the ball, but I'm not aloud to", Cinderella cried.
"Well first we must get out of her". With the witch of her wand, they were standing in the kitchen. "Now bring me a pumpkin, 6 mice, 1 snake, and 1 cat" said the Godmother.
Cinderella obeyed. The fairy godmother put magic on all the items. She turned the pumpkin into a carriage, the mice into horses, the snake into a footman, and the cat into a driver.
"There Cinderella! Now you can go to the ball!" Godmother said promptly.
"No I can't! I can't go to the ball int these rags and my bare feet!" Cinderella exclaimed.
"Oh yes! How could I forget? All right then" she said. She mumbled some words and moved her arm in a great circular motion.
Cinderella looked lovely! She had on a pale blue dress that sparkled. A small tiara sat upon her golden curls. On her feet were the most beautiful glass slippers she had ever seen.
" Thank you!" she cried. Then she got into her carriage.
" Oh Cinderella! Remember, come back by the stroke of midnight, or the magic will go away. You'll have nothing left but your own rags!" Godmother called.
Cinderella happily arrived at the ball. As soon as she stepped into the grand ballroom, the music stopped playing and all ayes were on her. Especially the prince's.
At once he came forward and asked her to dance. Then he led her out to the middle of the dance floor and they danced the night away.
In the corner of the room, the stepsisters stared at Cinderella. "That girl looks VERY familiar. I wonder who she is" Stepmother said.
The prince didn't dance with anyone except Cinderella. Later they stopped dancing and went out to the terrace for some fresh air. All of the sudden the clock rang its first stroke of midnight.
"Oh no! I'm sorry. I must go now!" Cinderella cried.
"But wait! What is you name? Please don't go!" the prince shouted.
In Cinderella's haste to leave, one of her magical glass slippers slid off her foot. But she had no time to go back and get it.
The prince asked one of the guards if he had seen a beautiful princess running out of the palace. The guard said that he had seen nothing but a girl in rags running down the road.
The prince could not stop thinking about her, though. He had found her slipper and sat gazing at it the whole night. But in the morning he decided to find the girl who fit in the slipper. He search throughout the whole kingdom.
The doorbell rang at Cinderella's house. Cinderella answered the door. It was the prince.
" I am looking for the girl that fits in this glass slipper" he said holding it up.
Cinderella reached into her pocket for the matching glass slipper. "I-I have-".
Cinderella's wicked stepmother pushed her out of the way just as Cinderella was about to show him her slipper. " Hello prince. I have two daughters that would like to try the slipper on" Stepmother said.
The girls ran into the room giggling. "Let me try it on first! I am the oldest" one stepsister shrieked.
"Very well", the prince said. He tried to put the slipper on her foot. "I'm sorry it doesn't fit. Looks like your foot is too long".
The next stepsister yanked her sister out of the chair and sat down. " Try me!" she said wiggling her toes.
"Very well", the prince said. He tried to put the slipper on her foot. " I'm sorry, it doesn't fit. Looks like your foot is too fat!".
The stepsisters ran out of the room, wailing.
" May I try it on?" Cinderella asked quietly. She stepped forward.
"No you cannot!" Stepmother said firmly.
" Actually, everyone in this kingdom is allowed to have an equal try in putting the shoe on" the prince said. Cinderella came and sat down. The prince slid the slipper onto Cinderella's delicate foot. It was a perfect fit. Cinderella pulled the identical one from her apron pocket.
"NOOOOOOO! How could this be? Cinderella was not at the ball!" Stepmother screamed.
" You really are the one, Cinderella! We will be married by tomorrow!" the prince exclaimed!
Cinderella looked shyly at her stepmother. " You can come if you want" she said to Stepmother.
Stepmother shrieked again and ran out of the room.
Cinderella and the prince ran out of the house and into the waiting carriage. The next day they got married and lived happily ever after!!!!!!!!!
